Techin’ Over: How Emerging Technology is Changing IP Practice
As non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and metaverse platforms continue to dominate headlines, the impact of these technologies on IP rights has become a hot topic. Trading the Treadmill for the Ladder: Creative Thinking for Non-Attorney Career Progression
Administrator. Paralegal. Senior Paralegal. Senior-Senior Paralegal. Paralegal I, II, III. What does it all mean? TMAs by any title are the highly-valued work engines of any trademark practice. Yet too often the non-attorney trademark professional’s career is stymied, leaving little room for creativity and career growth.
This session encourages you to think holistically about your career, what your role could become, and how you might shape your own destiny. Our panel of non-attorneys and other management stakeholders have broken the mold in their own organizations. Join them as they offer creative insights and new ways of reshaping your professional value proposition. Change isn’t always easy or obvious, so this group will provide meaningful, actionable advice toward turning your job into a career. We will explore ways of empowering your attorney-managers to think about the careers of their people and for you to consider your career in a more proactive, progressive, and open-minded way.

Our discussion will include best practices for monitoring domain names, establishing internal protocols and communications, including cross functional relationships between the trademark/IP, marketing/web, and IT/security teams, and identifying levels of risk and options for enforcement.
