New Orleans, Louisiana—November 12, 2024—The International Trademark Association (INTA) is pleased to announce that Kimberly Eberwine, Associate General Counsel of The Procter & Gamble Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, and Christian Bolduc, Principal of Smart & Biggar in Montreal, Canada, have jointly won INTA’s 2024 Advancement of Association Objectives Award.

The Advancement of Association Objectives Award is presented to one or more individuals of a member organization whose participation, efforts, and innovative thinking during the year have advanced: (a) substantive trademark and related IP law and practice; (b) committee or subcommittee objectives; or (c) the objectives of INTA’s 2022–2025 Strategic Plan.

Ms. Eberwine and Mr. Bolduc both contributed significantly to the Association’s advocacy efforts regarding Quebec’s Bill 96. Their thought leadership during the early stages of strategy formulation and later implementation, helped to establish a coalition in response to Bill 96 and to establish credibility of the coalition as an expert group with numerous government institutions. Ms. Eberwine and Mr. Bolduc made great efforts to increase the exposure of the coalition, including by sharing practical steps for complying with Bill 96 and explaining the impact of the law  on business.

“To achieve the best possible outcome, we took an integrated and holistic approach to engaging with industry and the government on behalf of the current and future members of INTA,” noted Ms. Eberwine. “I’m proud of how effectively we worked to understand various perspectives and to find common ground among all stakeholders.”

“I am deeply honored to win this award from an organization that has earned my utmost respect,” said Mr. Bolduc. “Being actively involved with INTA for more than two decades has allowed me the opportunity to interact and learn from the best, expand my horizon and my network, and become a better trademark lawyer.”

“Ms. Eberwine and Mr. Bolduc have proven highly effective in calling attention to the consequences that this law will have on intellectual property rights. This has helped to better inform and prepare our community at large. Congratulations to both!” said INTA President Dana Northcott.

This year’s INTA awards were presented today during an awards ceremony at the Association’s 2024 Leadership Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. INTA also presented Noemi Parrotta (Spheriens, Italy) with the Advancement of Association Objectives Award.
