Trademark Scholarship Symposium
Join academics and practitioners from around the world for the 2025 Trademark Scholarship Symposium, where small-group discussions of scholarly works in progress take center stage. While exact topics are yet to be confirmed, the Symposium promises insightful dialogue and valuable networking opportunities.
The Symposium is hosted by the Trademark Scholarship Symposium Subcommittee of INTA’s Academic Committee.

Who should apply
We welcome applications from academics, practitioners, students, and other members of the INTA community . We encourage submission of scholarly articles and research projects relevant to the INTA community (about trademark law or complementary areas of law), whether you’re in the early stages of research or already have a polished draft.
Why participate
The Symposium fosters cross-pollination of ideas within the INTA community, facilitating engaging discussions on timely issues in trademark and complementary areas of law. Selected participants will receive complementary registration to the 2025 Annual Meeting, where they’ll present their projects in a workshop setting, receive feedback, and engage in dialogue with academics and trademark practitioners.
How to apply
Submit an abstract and description of your proposed project by 5:00 pm Eastern Time on Friday, March 21, 2025. Selected applicants will be notified by March 28, 2025. A working draft of your paper (minimum 10–20 pages ) is due by 5:00 pm Eastern Time on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Papers should be written in English.
While there’s no publication obligation, participants are encouraged to submit their final papers to The Trademark Reporter for consideration.
Important information
When and Where? The Symposium will take place on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the 2025 Annual Meeting in San Diego, California, USA. Selected participants receive complementary Annual Meeting registration, but travel and accommodation expenses are not covered by INTA.
Max Submissions: Each presenter may submit up to two projects.
Continuing Work: You may continue to work on your paper; however, reviewers will base their feedback on the version received on or before April 24, 2025.
Selection of Commentators: The Subcommittee pairs member commentators with selected projects based on their expertise, ensuring a valuable review experience.
Publication: While there’s no obligation, participants are welcome to submit final papers to The Trademark Reporter for potential publication consideration.
Eligibility: All academics, practitioners, students, and INTA community members are encouraged to apply.
Selection Notification: Selected participants will be notified of their acceptance by March 28, 2025.
