Published: November 20, 2019
New York, New York, November 20, 2019—The International Trademark Association (INTA) is proud to announce Latha Nair, Partner, K&S Partners, Gurgaon, India, as a recipient of the Association’s 2019 Service Award for the Advancement of Association Objectives.
This newly established award is given to one or more individuals of an INTA member organization whose participation, efforts, and innovative thinking during the year have advanced substantive trademark and related intellectual property law and practice; committee or subcommittee objectives; or the strategic objectives of INTA.
Ms. Nair is a long-time principal editor of and contributor to INTA’s Geographical Indications, Certification Marks and Collective Marks: An International Guide. Recently, she led the project team for the Association’s sold-out 2019 India Workshop and participated in a panel on geographical indications and appellations of origin at INTA’s 2019 Annual Meeting. She also frequently solicits contributors to INTA’s scholarly journal, The Trademark Reporter, and has participated in the Association’s Unreal Campaign to educate young consumers about the value of trademarks and brands and the dangers of counterfeit products.
“When you’re truly passionate about the subject matter of your work, quality and dedication shine through. Ms. Nair exemplifies that. She truly embodies the volunteer spirit of the Association, and we are thankful for all she had done to advance the field,” said INTA President David Lossignol.
In accepting the award, Ms. Nair said, “Receiving the award has certainly raised the bar for me as a volunteer. INTA has enriched my learnings as an intellectual property lawyer, and it’s satisfying to give back to the world trademark community through this wonderful platform.”
Ms. Nair earned a B.A., LL.B from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore. Prior to joining K&S Partners in 1998, Ms. Nair worked as a litigator and in-house counsel for a telecommunication company in India.
INTA presented Ms. Nair with the 2019 Service Award for the Advancement of Association Objectives on November 19 during the Association’s 2019 Leadership Meeting in Austin, Texas. The Association also presented the award to Larisa Colton, Global Trademark Counsel, YUM!
