International Trademark Association Presents California Attorney with Tomorrow’s Leader Award

New York, New York—November 13, 2020—The International Trademark Association (INTA) is pleased to announce that Bita Kianian, Associate, Knobbe, Martens, Olson & Bear, LLP, Irvine, California, is a recipient of the Association’s 2020 Tomorrow’s Leader Award in recognition of her early leadership merits in the intellectual property (IP) industry.
The global association of brand owners and trademark professionals presents this award annually to two outstanding professionals who have been practicing trademark law for five years or less to inspire the next generation of IP professionals and to help accelerate the development of the recipients within the Association and the global trademark community.
Ms. Kianian, who has worked at Knobbe, Martens, Olson & Bear for the past two years, focuses on trademark prosecution and enforcement, copyright, unfair competition, and licensing and has co-authored numerous articles for prestigious publications.
In addition, she has performed extensive pro bono work. This includes volunteering at El Centro Legal, a student-coordinated network of volunteer legal aid clinics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, where she represented individuals who had been wrongly denied government benefits.

Ms. Kianian said that receiving the award reflects “my passion for trademark law, commitment to clients, and my amazing mentors at Knobbe Martens. This achievement is an exciting opportunity to become more involved with INTA and be part of a global community of leaders and trademark experts.”
As an award winner, Ms. Kianian can serve on an INTA committee and be mentored by a member of INTA. She also receives complimentary registration for the virtual 2020 Annual Meeting & Leadership Meeting and the 2021 Annual Meeting.
Ms. Kianian graduated with a JD from UCLA School of Law in 2018. She served as the Managing Editor of the Entertainment Law Review, and Managing Editor and Production Editor of the Journal of Environmental Law and Policy. She graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Economics from California State University, Fullerton in 2014.
Ms. Deutsch announced the Tomorrow’s Leader Award winners on November 13 in a video announcement at INTA’s 2020 Annual Meeting & Leadership Meeting. The second 2020 award recipient is Aprajita Nigam, Managing Associate, LexOrbis, New Delhi, India.
