Time to Reconnect at the 2023 Annual Meeting (Virtual Only)

Published: June 21, 2023

INTA’s 2023 Annual Meeting (Virtual Only) offers an impressive range of educational programming designed to meet the needs of all registrants, from the comfort and ease of your own workspace. The event takes place next Tuesday, June 27 through Thursday, June 29.

Dynamic Programming

The educational program features three different session formats—New Live, Simulive, and On Demand—designed to cater to the different preferences and schedules of registrants.

The New Live content is exclusive to next week’s Virtual Only gathering. These eight sessions will explore entirely new avenues of discussion, providing registrants the opportunity to deepen their understanding around the critical issues shaping the intellectual property (IP) landscape and practice.

The New Live sessions add to an already robust educational programming, delivering a well-rounded, wide array of topics to consider. Tuesday’s program will feature two New Live sessions. The first session, Can a Trademark Professional Use ChatGPT Legally and Ethically?, will cover the legal and ethical considerations regarding AI-driven technologies. This is followed by Exploring the Complexities of NFTs and IP Rights—NFT INTA White Paper and Beyond, where speakers will tackle how NFTs impact trademark rights and explore the possibilities for new business opportunities for brand owners.

Wednesday’s New Live sessions will cover Bankruptcy, Insolvency, & IP and how to Harmonize Your Trade Secret Strategy to Build and Strengthen Brands. In a third New Live session, Andy Stalman (TOTEM Branding, Spain) will lead a session titled, Marketers Are from Mars and IP Professionals Are from Pluto: How to Bring the Two Closer Together.

And, on Thursday, New Live sessions will cover IP in the Post-Brexit Environment and Brands and Outer Space: What Can Brands Do Today to Forestall Infringement of Their IPRs in Future. These are in addition to a Fireside Chat with the DEI Council Co-Chairs, which will take place from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Thursday. DEI Council Co-Chairs Stephanie Grenald (Amazon.com, Inc., USA) and Marion Heathcote (Davies Collison Cave, Australia) will discuss the importance and significance of the DEI Council and provide a high-level summary of what’s to come—including an overview of potential projects.

The five Simulive sessions will be delivered in a hybrid format consisting of pre-recorded sessions, immediately followed by live Q&As. Simulive sessions allow registrants to enhance conversation and dig deeper into topics with insightful questions. Topics covered include influencer marketing, fostering innovation in a team dynamic, embracing digital transformations, and more.

The 11 On Demand sessions are pre-recorded content from the in-person Annual Meeting in Singapore. These sessions will be available to view until September 29, which will allow registrants the flexibility to engage with programming at the time most convenient to them.

Sessions from the On Demand programming include IP Office of the Future: How to Build an Action Plan for a 21st Century IP Office; Capsule Keynote Panel: Fireside Chat with Deputy Commissioner of China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA); and India Case Law Update—Insights from the Bench and the Bar.

Business Development

In addition to the educational programming, the 2023 Annual Meeting (Virtual Only) will include two Business Development offerings, providing registrants with opportunities to make meaningful connections, grow their networks, and develop new business.

Speed Networking will take place each day of the Meeting from 1:40 pm to 2:40 pm EST. This virtual spin on one of the most popular offerings of the in-person Annual Meeting allows registrants to maximize their time by meeting several new contacts in a one-hour session. “Speed networking remains an INTA networking staple and our members have expressed that they enjoy it just as much in a virtual environment. We will always offer Speed Networking opportunities at both in-person and virtual Meetings as long as the demand is there,” says Sacha Colquhoun, Manager, Business Development, INTA.

New for 2023 is the Business Development Networking Hub, a virtual space where registrants can chat with each other in an informal setting. The Hub will be open 24 hours a day for the duration of the Meeting. “The Business Development Networking Hub offers a virtual alternative to the social aspects of the in-person Meeting. It provides registrants with an opportunity to chat with clients, colleagues, or make new connections, just like you might over coffee or a drink at an in-person Meeting,” says Ms. Colquhoun.

The 2023 Annual Meeting (Virtual Only) will take place from Tuesday, June 27 to Thursday, June 29. Learn more and register here.
