Published: November 20, 2018
New York, NY, November 20, 2018—The International Trademark Association (INTA) is pleased to announce Gaurav Bhalla, a partner at ALG India Law Offices LLP in New Delhi, India, as a recipient of the Association’s 2018 Tomorrow’s Leader Award in recognition of his early leadership merits in the intellectual property (IP) industry.
INTA presents the award annually to two outstanding professionals who have been practicing trademark law for five years or less, to inspire the next generation of IP professionals and to help accelerate the development of the recipients within INTA and the global trademark community.
“INTA is honored to recognize Mr. Bhalla as a 2018 Tomorrow’s Leader Award recipient,” said INTA President Tish Berard. “Mr. Bhalla’s dedication to trademark law as well as his desire to better society are especially evident through his extensive pro bono work. We’re certain that his future will remain bright as he continues to advance professionally.”
Mr. Bhalla’s practice focuses on trademark enforcement, trademark oppositions and rectifications, trademark litigation, domain name disputes, trademark prosecution, and trademark maintenance. He received an LL.M. from National Law University, Jodhpur, and a B.A. LL.B. from Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Among his pro bono efforts, he provided legal advisory services to a non-government organization that was seeking geographical indication protection of Channapatna toys in India.
“There is not an iota of doubt in my mind that the Tomorrow’s Leader Award will be a significant milestone in my professional career,” said Mr. Bhalla. “Getting selected for this award has instilled renewed confidence in me to strive to keep myself apprised of various developments in the field of IP law in various jurisdictions. I believe this award serves as a great tool to motivate young practitioners to contribute to the initiatives undertaken by INTA in the development of IP law.”
Mr. Bhalla received the Tomorrow’s Leader Award at INTA’s 2018 Leadership Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, in early November. The second 2018 award recipient is Mina Jovanović, a junior associate at Živko Mijatović & Partners in Belgrade, Serbia. INTA introduced the award last year.
As an award winner, Mr. Bhalla has the opportunity to serve on an INTA committee and to obtain an INTA mentor. He received complimentary registration to the Leadership Meeting and will receive complimentary registration to INTA’s 2019 Annual Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts, next May.
