New Orleans, Louisiana—November 12, 2024—The International Trademark Association (INTA) has honored Koji Saito, Director of Business Development at the Shobayashi International Patent and Trademark Office in Tokyo, Japan, as a recipient of INTA’s 2024 Membership Champion Award.

The INTA Member Champion Award is presented to one or more individuals who, during the year, help grow Association membership, increase Association awareness, and promote member benefits, demonstrating their combined passion for trademark and related intellectual property (IP) law and their commitment to INTA through exceptional efforts with such things as introductions to potential members, hosting recruitment events and roundtables, participating in delegations, and sharing their own INTA experience to facilitate knowledge and understanding of the Association.

Mr. Saito played a key role in organizing a successful policy delegation in Japan where he served as an effective advocate for the Association and an invaluable interlocuter in helping the Association reach and engage various stakeholders in the country’s IP community including Japan IP Association, Japan Trademark Association and Licensing Executives Society. During this delegation, Mr. Saito made introductions to key government officials to enhance INTA advocacy, and he supported events with members and prospective members. Mr. Saito provided the foundational knowledge that has helped shape an effective strategy for the Association’s growth in Japan.

“My involvement with INTA has allowed me to grow my network in the global IP community and learn from the many friends and volunteers who also support the Association,” remarked Mr. Saito. “I am proud that we can promote the importance of trademarks in Japan and will continue to positively contribute to this changing IP landscape.”

“Mr. Saito has gone above and beyond to support and advance the Association in Japan. We recognize his dedication and commitment to INTA today. His passion for trademarks and IP sets a stellar example for IP professionals around the world,” said INTA President Dana Northcott.

This year’s INTA awards were presented today during an awards ceremony at the Association’s 2024 Leadership Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. INTA also recognized Jonathan Clegg (Cleveland Scott York, United Kingdom) and Marc Trachtenberg (Greenberg Traurig, LLP, USA) as Membership Champion Award winners.
