Get started with the Trademark Administrators (TMA) Certificate Program Beginner Course!
Learn the professional skills to be a successful TMA, the basics of intellectual property (IP) with a focus on trademarks, how IP rights are obtained, protected, and enforced, and the key technologies utilized by TMAs.
This Course is primarily designed for early-career TMAs to advance their knowledge and professional development, as well as for young practitioners and attorneys looking for more cross-functional experience in intellectual property (IP).

Introduction to Intellectual Property
- Learn what intellectual property is, the different types, and why it is important.
Role of a Trademark Administrator
- Familiarize yourself with the role and responsibilities of a Trademark Administrator in different workplace settings.
Obtaining Intellectual Property Rights
- Understand how intellectual property rights are obtained and the benefits of protecting them.
Intellectual Property Protection
- Explore the importance of intellectual property protection and risks that rights holders face.
Tools and Tech
- Learn how technology impacts the role of Trademark Administrators and the key tech tools they should be familiar with.
Trademarks
- Understand the different types of trademarks, the advantages of registration, and how to access and review intellectual property office records.
The Beginner Course is divided into eight chapters, each dedicated to exploring different aspects of IP and trademark administration. It is comprised of pre-recorded videos, quizzes, and presentations to help you navigate the content.
To obtain a certificate of completion and digital badge, you must successfully complete the Course with a minimum of 75 percent of questions answered correctly.
